Abstract: A guidebook for trainers in developed and developing countries provides basic practical information for effectively educating community health workers in areas of nutrition for promoting community health and nutritional status. The 1st section of the guide is comprised of 3 chapters dealing with guidelines, teaching skills, and basic food facts focusing on nutrition knowledge. The 2nd section of the guide contains 9 specific teaching modules. The modules cover: getting to know the community and it s needs; assessing and monitoring child nutrition and growth; breast feeding promotion; nutritional guidance for infants and young children; maternal nutritional care; the diagnosis, control, and prevention of common nutrient deficiencies; nutritional care in diarrhea and other infections; and transmitting nutrition information to the community. Guidelines for resolving community nutritional problems also are
