New digital X-ray plates ultrasonographs, computerised axial tomographs, and MRI scans have also been included. New imaging techniques have replaced contrast radiographic techniques like bronchography and cholecystography. Ultrasonography of hepatobiliary system is more sensitive than cholecystography in detecting small stones and biliary sludge.
